Chef Marx Gary from Ross Bridge Resort will be joining us at the farmers market. He will be making Watermelon Salad and housemade limoncello!
About Marx Gary: “Growing up as an only child in Birmingham, Sous Chef Marx Gary gives his mother credit for bringing out the chef in him. "My mother was an inspiration in me becoming a chef. She wasn't the greatest cook, which motivated me to become a really good one."
Gary began working at Jim N Nick's when he was a junior in high school. He had his sights on becoming a doctor and even though he enjoyed cooking, didn't take becoming a chef seriously, until a little later. Two semesters away from obtaining his degree in biology, Gary knew becoming a doctor wasn't what he wanted to do any longer. "Once I realized I didn't want to be a doctor, I thought I could continue cooking. It was a passion I had and felt I did it well. I decided to return to Jim N Nicks as a cook this time."
Humbly, Chef Gary told posh about all the different cities he's worked in and world renowned chefs he has cooked under. But, publishing that information is something he prefers we not do. "I try and make myself known for my own work and not build my reputation off of who I've worked with. It's not about who I've worked with, it's that people come to Brock's and enjoy their experience. Brock's is so unique. Everything we do here is different. All of our food is made form scratch even down to the truffle honey, truffle oil and all the desserts. Also, every dish is a signature dish which means everything on the menu is designed by us to go well together and is delicious. Anyone can make the common "shrimp and grits'. I work really hard to do the opposite of what every other restaurant is cooking at the time." When Chef Marx Gary isn’t cooking, he spends quality time with his beautiful wife and young daughter”.

Charity Spotlight
Manna Ministries (http://www.mannacharities.org/) is a food rescue charity based in Alabaster. What started 30 years ago as a project to help feed six neighborhood widows has now become a warehouse-sized operation that provides perishable and non-perishable foods to hundreds of families every weekend. This Saturday, August 10th, Manna will be at the market to explain their mission and to collect food (fresh, boxed, canned, etc.) and financial donations. Why not buy a little extra from our farmers this weekend and share it with those in need nearby? Thank you in advance for your generosity.
