This Saturday is Free Tomato Sandwich Day. We will use fresh locally grown tomatoes to make free sandwiches for everyone. We should start at 9am so come before they are all gone.
Remember you can park on the sides behind the tents.
Best Butt in Helena
We have a fun event where local cooks will compete to find out who has the best boston butt BBQ in Helena and you can help choose the winner. You can donate to each bbq chef and get a sample of their bbq. Whoever raises the most money will be declared the People's Choice Winner. The money will go toward the local Friends of Helena Schools charity.
At 11pm, the competitors will submit their samples to a panel of judges and the judges will also pick their winner. So two trophies will be award and come out and enjoy.
Performing this Saturday, July 14th: The students of Heather Batey Voice & Piano Studio. Heather provides caring, professional vocal instruction for students of all ages offered at her studio in Pelham. Emphasis is on correct singing technique, breath support, expanding the vocal range, and a relaxed, open tone that is powerful, rich, & expressive which will be applicable to a variety of musical styles. Students of this studio are taught all skills necessary for a well-rounded education in music, including theory, sight-reading, musicianship, ear-training, and keyboard skills. Last Weeks wines were Rose - Hogwash - 2011 and Folonar - Pinot Grigio from the Pleasure is all Wine.
Here is Chef Gray Byrum's recipe for BRANDY INFUSED PEACH CHUTNEY - (He served it with couscous and diced up chicken. ) :
Ingredients:
2 TBS Olive oil
1 Yellow Onion diced
2 Garlic cloves - diced
2 jalapenos - no seeds no ribs - diced
2 lbs of peaches - diced
1 - 1/2 tsp curry powder
3 TBS - Brandy or Wine (Such as Rose)
3 TBS - Brown Sugar
2 TBS - Cider Vinegar
1/2 Cup basil minced
2 tomatoes - (seeded and diced)
Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium high heat. Add onions and saute until translucent. Add Garlic and jalapenos to skillet - saute several minutes. Add peaches and curry powder, continue to simmer for a few more minutes. Deglaze pan with brandy, add vinegar and brown sugar. Reduce mixture by half and add the basil and tomatoes.

Helena Market Days will provide a rent-free space to one non-profit group each week of market season for purposes of fundraising. The space comes with a pop-up shelter and an 8-foot table. Qualifying organizations include churches, schools, civic organizations and charities, among others. Preference is given to Helena non-profits but any Shelby County organization may apply.
